It is our distinct pleasure to announce that the project coordinated by Asst. Prof. Şebnem Eşsiz Gökhan from our departmenthas been awarded funding by TUBITAK within the TUBITAK 3501 – Career Development Program.

The project, entitled “Gating Mechanism of NMDA-Type Lonotropic Glutamate Receptor Model and Open Channel Blockers”, will concentrate on over-activation of the glutamate receptors, which is one of the leading causes of all types of dementia diseases such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and Huntington’s. The project aims to facilitate the design and development of improved inhibitors for excitotoxicity and neurodegeneration.

We congratulate Asst. Prof. Şebnem Eşsiz Gökhan, who managed to receive the first national project support of 2015, for her achievement and wish for the continuation of her success.
